Local Assessment of MJDF Coursework
Assessors' page

Many thanks for carrying out local assessments of MJDF coursework for the North Western Division. We are most grateful.

The system
Candidates will choose an assessor from our published list. See the candidates' page.  A candidate will contact you by e-mail and ask if you are willing to undertake their assessment.

You are under no obligation to carry out an assessment. You may already have some to do or you may simply be away or too busy. If you cannot undertake an assessment just let the candidate know by e-mail and they will choose another candidate from the list.

The candidate will send their coursework to you.  We have asked candidates to use re-usable packaging and a stamped addressed label so that it can be easily sent back.  Alternatively you can make your own arrangement.   For example you could agree that the candidate will drop off and collect their coursework from your practice.

The candidate must enclose an Assessment Request Form with their coursework.  This is what you will need to get paid when you have completed your assessment.  Please do not accept coursework without an Assessment Request Form.

Coursework must be complete before it can be assessed.  For the MJDF this means it should have 5 key skill documents, a clinical audit, a case presentation, a personal development portfolio, a curriculum vitae and a CPD record.  Please do not accept incomplete coursework.

We ask that coursework is returned to the candidate within three weeks.

There are three possible outcomes to your assessment.  The candidate can pass, you may ask for minor amendments or you may feel a major rewrite is necessary.  An example of a minor amendment might be a missing document such as a certificate for dental radiology or you may think that a reflective commentary should be expanded.  An example of a major rewrite would be a disorganised portfolio where there is inadequate evidence and reflection throughout.

Assessors

This will be very unusual because all of our candidates will have had their coursework mentored during their course.

Minor amendments
Where you have asked for minor amendments please e-mail the assessment coordinator.  Please be very specific about the amendment you have requested.  We will then contact the candidate and ask them to send the amendments or additional evidence to you.  There is no further fee for this.

Major rewrites
Please e-mail the assessment coordinator setting out the problem.  We will contact the candidate and pass on the details.  For each piece of rewritten coursework the candidate will pay a further fee of £30 for reassessment.  This will be paid to the Division and then passed on to the assessor on completion.

After your assessment
On completion of your assessment please complete pages 5 & 6 of the portfolio submission form which can be downloaded from this page. Send this back to the candidate with their coursework.

Please return the Assessment Request Form and a claim form to the assessment coordinator. The treasurer will send you a cheque for £233

Guidance
All of our assessors are previously successful candidates from our MFGDP or MJDF courses and the course CD will be a good resource for your assessments. If you need a new copy please contact us. There are also a number of guidance documents which can be downloaded from this page which will help you. If you are unsure about any aspect of an assessment please contact the assessment coordinator or any of the current MJDF tutors or mentors.
